Early Life and Career

Born on February 14, 1973, in Mount Olive, Mississippi, Steve McNair, nicknamed "Air McNair," was an American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 13 seasons. After a successful college career at Alcorn State University, McNair was drafted by the Houston Oilers in the first round of the 1995 NFL Draft.

NFL Career

McNair played for the Oilers/Tennessee Titans (1995-2005) and the Baltimore Ravens (2006-2007). He led the Titans to four AFC Championship games and one Super Bowl appearance in 1999, where they lost to the St. Louis Rams. McNair was known for his scrambling ability and strong arm, earning Pro Bowl selections in 1999, 2000, and 2003. In 2003, he shared the NFL Most Valuable Player award with Peyton Manning.

Personal Life and Tragedy

Off the field, McNair was known for his philanthropy and community involvement. Tragically, on July 4, 2009, McNair was found dead along with Sahel Kazemi in a condominium in Nashville, Tennessee. Police determined that Kazemi had killed McNair and then herself.

Legacy

Steve McNair's untimely death shocked the football world. He is remembered as one of the most talented quarterbacks of his generation and a beloved figure in Nashville. The Titans retired his No. 9 jersey, and he was inducted into the Tennessee Titans Hall of Fame (2011) and the Pro Football Hall of Fame (2020).
