Dolores Del Rio was the one of the first Mexican movie stars with international appeal and who had meteoric career in 1920s1930s Hollywood.
María de los Dolores Asúnsolo y López Negrete, better known as Dolores del Río, was born on August 3, 1904, in Durango, Mexico. She began her acting career in Mexico in the early 1920s and quickly became one of the most popular actresses in the country. In 1925, she was invited to Hollywood to star in the film What Price Glory?, which made her an international star. Del Río went on to star in a number of successful Hollywood films throughout the 1920s and 1930s, including The Loves of Carmen (1927), Evangeline (1929), and Flying Down to Rio (1933).
