Early Life and Family
Otto Frank was born on May 12, 1889, in Frankfurt, Germany. He was the son of a successful businessman and a devout Jewish family. Otto married Edith Holländer in 1925, and they had two daughters: Margot (born 1926) and Anne (born 1929).
Escape from Nazi Germany
After the Nazis came to power in 1933, the Frank family faced increasing persecution. In 1938, they fled to Amsterdam, Netherlands, hoping to find sanctuary from the growing threat of anti-Semitism. However, as the war escalated, the Netherlands was invaded by the Germans in 1940.
