Liverpool and Villa win, Brighton battle back to draw

West Ham United made history with a 2-1 victory at Anderlecht on Thursday to reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League for the second time in three years.

The Hammers, who have scored in every game so far this season, took the lead through Michail Antonio in the first half before Anderlecht equalised through Fabio Silva just after the hour mark.

However, West Ham were not to be denied and Pablo Fornals grabbed the winner with a superb strike from outside the box in the 79th minute.

The victory means that West Ham have now extended their unbeaten away run to 17 matches, a club record.

Elsewhere in the Europa League, Liverpool beat Ajax 3-0 at Anfield, Aston Villa won 2-1 at home to Rennes, and Brighton battled back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at home to Braga.
